Homewood coach gets new kidney from one of his runners

A coach in the Chicago area was recently given the gift of life from one of his runners. The coach’s kidney function had dropped to almost 15% and was failing quickly so a miracle was needed. The runner was inspired since he knew how much running changed his life and he wanted to make sure his coach could enjoy the sport that he loved just as much.

Key Takeaways:

  • The longtime track and training coach needed a kidney transplant
  • Now, one of his runners has given him a healthy new life
  • His failing kidney was due to a disease since birth, and he had no way to know when or even if he would be able to get a new one

“I am getting definitely something out of this because I feel blessed to be able to help him out,”
