Coconut oil, once hailed for its many uses, isn’t as good for you as you probably thought. Coconut oil is about 92% saturated fat, and may actually raise your cholesterol! Some argue it helps your “good” cholesterol, but studies have not been able to back that notion up. Coconut oil also does not reduce chances of heart disease. Bottom line, coconut oil can offer unique flavoring, but don’t count on it for health benefits.
