USA Today reports on how, according to the New England Journal of Medicine, vitamin B3 may keep your baby safe from some birth defects and help prevent miscarriages. There is strong evidence that the intake of niacin (B3) can help prevent certain birth defects for children with particular gene mutations.
- vitamin b3 can help prevent birth defects in mothers
- multiple genes were isolated that cause embryos to be NAD deficient
- The exact dose is not currently known, so wait to take a lot of B3 and take prenatal vitamins
“They found two gene mutations that caused the children to be deficient in the coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), which is important for energy metabolism and normal organ development.”
